Warm Audio Dirty Boy JR Overdrive

The Warm Audio Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive is an all-analogue overdrive, preamp and amplifier simulator developed in collaboration with boutique pedal builder Dirty Boy Pedals. Based on the original Dirty Boy Preamp circuit, it uses proprietary T.A.E. (Tube Amp Emulation) technology to deliver touch-sensitive, vintage British-style amplifier tones, from clear, edge-of-breakup cleans to rich overdrive and saturated, harmonically complex distortion. Its dynamic response reacts to picking intensity and guitar volume adjustments, allowing players to move naturally between cleaner and more driven sounds. A dedicated Variac control adds another dimension to the sound by simulating reduced amplifier voltage, introducing controllable sag, compression and increasingly fuzzy, lo-fi breakup.

Four intuitive controls, Gain, Tone, Volume and Variac, provide hands-on control over the pedal's character and output. The Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive features two separate outputs: a preamp output for connecting to a conventional amplifier or effects-return input, and a speaker-emulated output voiced after a closed-back 4×12 cabinet loaded with Celestion Greenback speakers. The latter allows you to connect directly to an audio interface, mixer, PA system or full-range, flat-response speaker without requiring a separate cabinet simulation. Its fully analogue signal path, true-bypass switching and rugged metal enclosure make it equally suited to pedalboard use, recording and live performance. Powered by a standard 9V DC centre-negative supply, the Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive combines the responsiveness of a boutique amp-inspired drive pedal with the flexibility of a standalone analogue preamp and direct-recording solution.
