Universal Audio UAFX Woodrow '55

The Universal Audio UAFX Woodrow ’55 recreates the distinctive sound and response of a classic mid-1950s American tweed tube amplifier, delivering everything from punchy, articulate cleans to warm, touch-sensitive overdrive and gritty, saturated distortion. Built on Universal Audio’s dual-engine processing and UAD modelling technology, it captures the character of a vintage 5E3-style amplifier, including its natural compression, harmonic richness and responsive breakup as you adjust your guitar’s volume and playing dynamics. The integrated speaker cabinet, microphone and room simulations, derived from Universal Audio’s OX Amp Top Box technology, provide studio-quality tones without requiring a physical amplifier. Three built-in speaker options, including a Jensen P12R, Celestion Blue and Celestion Greenback, offer distinct tonal characteristics, while additional cabinet models include a Marshall 4x12 with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.

The Woodrow ’55 features separate Instrument Volume and Mic Volume controls, allowing you to blend the characteristics of the amp’s two channels, alongside Tone, Output, Room and adjustable Boost controls. Three boost voicings, Stock, KP-3K and EP-III, expand its tonal range from subtle enhancement to more aggressive, overdriven sounds. Stereo inputs and outputs, onboard preset storage, dual footswitches and Bluetooth connectivity make it suitable for both live performance and studio recording, while the UAFX Control app provides access to additional speaker cabinets, artist presets and customisation options. The cabinet and microphone simulations can also be bypassed when using the pedal in front of a real guitar amplifier. Powered by an isolated 9V DC centre-negative supply rated at a minimum of 400 mA, sold separately, the Woodrow ’55 offers vintage tweed amplifier character in a compact, versatile format.
