MXR EVH-117 Flanger

The MXR EVH-117 Flanger is an analogue modulation pedal developed in collaboration with Eddie Van Halen, delivering the sweeping, jet-like flanging tones heard on classic Van Halen tracks such as “Unchained” and “And the Cradle Will Rock.” Its bucket-brigade circuitry produces a rich, moving modulation effect that ranges from subtle, swirling textures to dramatic, resonant sweeps with pronounced feedback. Beyond classic rock tones, the pedal is equally capable of creating atmospheric textures, metallic resonances and experimental modulation effects. Its distinctive white enclosure with Eddie Van Halen’s iconic black striped graphics makes it instantly recognisable.

The EVH-117 features four dedicated controls: Manual adjusts the delay time and tonal emphasis, Width determines the intensity of the sweep, Speed controls the modulation rate, and Regen adjusts the feedback for everything from smooth flanging to more pronounced, resonant effects. A dedicated EVH switch instantly activates the preset “Unchained” setting, recreating Eddie’s signature flanger configuration without altering your personal control settings. The pedal offers hardwire bypass switching and can be powered by an 18V DC centre-negative power supply or two 9V batteries.
