The Mad Professor Simble Predriver is a dynamic analogue preamp that combines clean boost, fast-acting compression and upper-harmonic enhancement to bring out the natural character and responsiveness of your guitar. Rather than simply increasing signal level, it subtly smooths sharp transients, adds harmonic richness and enhances sustain while preserving the nuances of your picking attack. Its response is highly interactive, reacting to both your playing dynamics and your guitar's volume control, making it particularly effective for players who want to move between clean, edge-of-breakup and driven tones without losing articulation. With an average boost of approximately 6 dB and up to 10 dB on lower-level notes, the Simble Predriver can add presence and sensitivity to an amplifier or help a downstream overdrive or fuzz respond more dynamically.

The pedal features a straightforward HOT/COOL switch that adjusts its boost character to suit different pickups and playing styles. Its high-input-impedance circuitry, rated above 2 MΩ, helps preserve the tonal integrity of passive and piezo pickups, while its low output impedance allows it to work effectively before other effects, including fuzz pedals. Designed to be placed early in the signal chain, the Simble Predriver can function as an always-on tone enhancer or a footswitchable boost for added responsiveness and harmonic detail. It features true-bypass switching, a rugged metal enclosure and a standard 9V DC centre-negative power connection, drawing approximately 2.5 mA when active. With its subtle compression and touch-sensitive response, the Simble Predriver is an excellent choice for guitarists seeking greater control over their dynamics without imposing an overly processed sound.
