The Bourgeois Hogtop 0014/DE is a compact, all-solid-mahogany acoustic guitar from the Downeast Series, combining a comfortable 00 body with Bourgeois' distinctive approach to acoustic voicing. Its mahogany top, back and sides produce a warm, woody tonal character with a pronounced midrange, balanced bass and clear, sustaining trebles. Despite its smaller body dimensions, the hand-voiced mahogany top delivers an impressive level of resonance and tonal depth, making it equally suited to delicate fingerstyle playing, articulate chord work and relaxed strumming. The 25-inch short scale provides a comfortable playing feel with slightly reduced string tension, while the 14-fret neck-to-body configuration offers familiar access across the fingerboard. Its focused, intimate sound and comfortable proportions make it an excellent instrument for songwriting, home playing and recording.
The Hogtop 0014/DE features a Honduran mahogany neck paired with an ebony fingerboard and traditional ebony bridge, complemented by vintage-style ivoroid dot inlays and black fingerboard binding. A ziricote headstock veneer with an ivoroid Bourgeois logo adds a distinctive visual detail, while the tortoiseshell body binding, celluloid tortoise pickguard and three-ring ivoroid rosette complete its understated appearance. Additional appointments include nickel Waverly tuning machines with oval buttons, ebony bridge pins and a high-gloss natural finish. With a 1 3/4-inch nut width and a 25-inch scale length, the Hogtop combines traditional acoustic construction with an ergonomic, compact design. It is a thoughtfully voiced instrument for players seeking the warmth and character of an all-mahogany guitar without sacrificing clarity or tonal versatility.
